Hi, Codine would like to know how dangerous it is to mix codeine with alcohol. I am taking codeine for over a year. Lately I am going to the pubs to hang out with my friends. We like to chat, play cards and drink beer. I dont know how good idea is to mix codeine with alcohol.

Any experiences? First of all, you know your body better than anyone else, so if something doesn't feel right then seek help or don't do it again. Now to answer your question, it is only dangerous depending on the mixture you take versus your body weight and sex.

A high dose of codeine should not be mixed with a high dose of alcohol, however a small amount of codeine is fine with alcohol (however you must still pace yourself as the effects are amplified). I have found that 120mg codeine and a shot of vodka is a comfortable feeling for me (170lbs male), although I wouldn't suggest drinking more than that. Also, some people are considered "ultra-fast metabolizers" of codeine (about 1% of caucasians, 25% of middle easterners, I forget the other demographics) and should probably not mess around to much with codeine/alcohol as it would be much easier to overdose.

Some people are capable of taking large doses of codeine without passing out nor dying although that doesn't mean that it isn't doing any long term damage.

Not long back i overdose on codeine having consumed roughtly 30/40units of alcohol (which alone isn't very clever), due to the fact i was drunk i can only estimate the over amount to have been roughtly 33/35 tables (30mg codeine phosphate/500mg paracetamol). Clocking up a seminly deadly 1g codeine/17g paracetamol. I weigh 182lbs and am 5' 9.5" tall and didn't suffer any serious problems. I wasn't hospitalised, i didn't see a doctor nor did i pass out.

The main reason i have spent the time writting this is because of the post that the previous guest wrote. Mixing codeine up with alcohol aalcohol to get a buzz is stupid especially if your taking co-codamol because then your risking the chance of paracetamol overdose. Uhm ( I have a friend) been taking codiene when depressed and an with coke and alcohol and always wake up feeling good. I am dangerously stupid and thinking of doing it right now. When I have been mildly drunk (maybe 4 beers) and had around 200mg of codeine + weed I have experienced respiratory and heart problems when retiring to bed, presumably several hours after the main effects of the codeine should have worn off.

This produced a very pleasant opiate-type high, affecting both mind and body. Fifteen to 20 minutes after ingestion, a deep feeling of relaxation and all-over warmth and peace ensues. It is very sweet.I tend to be a highly anxious and worried individual, but there are no worries on codeine; the worries are chilled right out of my bones on a wave of gentle euphoria.

The high lasts about two hours overall, with a peak period of about 30 to 45 minutes. The one notable side effect is a mild itchiness that comes on with the buzz, lasts the duration of the high, and then goes away.

But when I'm high, the itch is not really a bother. It's not akcohol at all; all of a sudden, boom, the ride is over, and then all you feel is extremely hammered and heavy. At the point this occurred, I ate this ham and cheese sandwhich (which tasted unusually delicious for some reason)and for a few minutes I felt better, but then the nausea came right back.

Then I had hiccups for about 45 minutes, and was generally in a gross mood. Everyone else was drunk and annoying me half to death.The whole ride lasted maybe four hours. Then i dragged myself home and passed out, still feeling so nauseous that I wished i had never heard of codeine. The next day I felt exhausted, but personally, I attribute this a lot more to the alcohol than the codeine.

Alcohol always makes me feel codsine crap the next day. I still have not taken codeine by itself. However, if you are going to drink with it, i wouldn't recommed taking a greater dose than the 30 mg.

I am pretty sure that anything more would have had me throwing up all night. All in all, though, I am sick of codeine. Personally, the nausea just ruins it for me.

Lying back in the bath sipping my drink was when the first real effects of the codeine hit me, suddenly everything seemed just right: the temperature of the water, the position of my body, the soft light from the candles reflecting off the ripples on the water?mmmm =)I had a great time just lying there blissing out, although I did notice that it was disturbingly easy to forget to breath.

Eventually (at about 11:30 I think) I decided to leave the bath for a minute and go smoke a cone of some reportedly very nice sensi. It look me a long time to actually achieve this though, because I found that wandering about my darkened house was SO SO pleasurable that it was difficult to actually force myself to get out my bong and gear.

By this time I was in a seriously great mood, my body was feeling amazing. That whisky was just what I needed.In the end I managed to get myself established on my back porch with bong, lighter and a cone of weed, with a small pinch of salvia 5X on top. I don't smoke weed very often, and that fact combined with the extreme potency of the buds put me on another planet.

At first the combination of the weed and the codeine was magical. I went to lay back on the couch and put on another Air album, and it was fantastic. I got this amazing glowing sensation travelling in waves up and down my body, and I found that moving around just made it better. I was experiencing some pretty strong euphoria, coming close to a medium quality pill (but in a different way, much more cozy) and hugging myself felt really really great. This album blows me away even when I'm straight, but on any sort of drug it is completely mind-blowing. I looked at the clock: 2:30am (4 hours after drinking the codeine) then quickly fell asleep.

Woke up at 9 this morning with a heavy 'stone-over', went back anx sleep, alcojol up again 1 hour later feeling slightly more alert.This was a great experience, although next time I probably won't be so hasty to pull out the bong. The weed seemed to overwhelm the more subtle effects of the codeine.

The alcohol went well though, it was a good way to boost a relatively small dose up to a very nice level. I wouldn't have more than one or two drinks though, because even after one drink I got fairly dizzy and unsure on my feet. I was glad eeowid find however that nausea was largely absent, I had only a slight bit after drinking a glass of water way too erowix (my mouth was soooo dry.) I still have another 100mg sitting in the fridge, and I have a feeling it wont be long before I'm down at the chemists again.

Recently I read that it doesn't inhibit CYP2D6 but rahter 3A4 which is responsible for conversion of codeine into norcodeine. In theory by inhibiting 3A4 you leave more codeine for 2D6 to turn into morphine.

After reading this I cpdeine to bite the bullet and give it a go. I had about 200ml of store bought grapefruit juice and about 100ml of squeezed juice around an hour before drinking my codeine. It definately seemed to increase the effects of both the codeine and the diazepam I took. I would say it potentiates diazepam/valium more than codeine but it does potentiate bHi, I would like to know how dangerous it is to mix codeine with alcohol. I am taking codeine for over a year.

Now to answer your question, it is alconol dangerous depending on the mixture you take versus your body weight and sex. A high dose of codeine should not be mixed with a high dose of alcohol, however a small amount of codeine is fine with alcohol (however you must still pace yourself as the effects are amplified). I have found that 120mg codeine and a shot of vodka is a comfortable feeling for me (170lbs male), although I wouldn't suggest drinking more than that.

Also, some people are considered "ultra-fast metabolizers" of codeine (about 1% of caucasians, 25% of middle easterners, I forget the other demographics) and should probably not mess around to much with codeine/alcohol as it would be much easier to overdose.

Some people are capable of taking large doses of codeine without passing out nor dying although that doesn't mean that it isn't doing any long term damage.

Not long back i overdose on codeine having consumed roughtly 30/40units of alcohol (which alone isn't very clever), due to the fact i was drunk i can only estimate the over amount to have been roughtly 33/35 tables (30mg codeine phosphate/500mg paracetamol).

Clocking up a seminly deadly 1g codeine/17g paracetamol. I codeinf 182lbs and am 5' 9.5" tall and didn't suffer any serious problems. I wasn't hospitalised, i didn't see a doctor nor did i pass out. I still had pills left over from when i had wisdom tooth extraction, and I had been using them as shortcuts to getting totally ripped by combining them with alcohol, especially when I was broke. On this instance, I was a frat party with a bunch of my girlfriends. I took two pills at around 11:00 p.m.

or so, and proceeded to have several drinks: a Sex on the Beach, whiskey sour, a poorly made Zombie, and a very disgusting Tequila Sunrise. Mind you, I drank these over the course of the nite, not all at once!It took about 40 minutes before I started feeling the distinct codeine buzz: kind of out of nowhere, you start to feel real happy and mellow, and drunk, but in a more clearheaded, unsloppy sort of way. You don't get those heavy legs or slurring words, and your balance is seemingly unaffected.

This time around, however, I experienced an additional effect I had not previously experienced: my body felt good, similar to ecstasy but obviously not as intense. This lasted for a good portion of the night, and it felt great. This is the one very noticeable and unpleasant things about doing codeine, though: you can tell the very instant your buzz is going away.

It's not gradual at all; all of a sudden, boom, the ride is over, and then all you feel is extremely hammered and heavy. And the worst part: the nausea kicks in, edowid it doesn't go lightly on you either. At the point this occurred, I ate this ham and cheese sandwhich (which tasted unusually delicious for some reason)and for a few minutes I felt better, but then the nausea alcohoo right back. Then I had hiccups for about 45 minutes, and was generally in a gross mood.

Everyone else was drunk and annoying me half to death.The whole ride lasted maybe four hours. Then i dragged myself home and passed out, still feeling so nauseous that I wished i had never heard of codeine. The next day I felt exhausted, but personally, I attribute this a lot more to the alcohol than the codeine. Alcohol always makes me feel like crap the next day. I still have not taken codeine by itself.

However, if you are going to drink with it, i wouldn't recommed taking a greater dose than the 30 mg. I am pretty sure that anything more would have had me throwing up all night.

All in all, though, I am sick of codeine. Personally, the nausea just ruins it for me. I like more intense mind blowing things like geltabs and good ecstasy better; I don't drink very often eroqid don't go for downers and tranquilizers. I used the cold water extraction to obtain a clear, pale pink solution from one packet of OTC 'chemadeine' pills, each containing 8mg codeine phosphate and 500mg paracetamol.

I had first intended to drink all of this, but on second thoughts I decided to err on the side of caution, mainly because I wasn't certain that all of the paracetamol had been removed. I have OD'ed on paracetamol before, and let me tell you all it's a horrible horrible experience.So at about 10:30pm I mixed half the codeine solution (roughly 100mg codeine phosphate) with some coke and drank.

I don't smoke weed very often, and that fact combined with the extreme potency of the buds put me on another planet. At first the combination of the weed and the codeine was magical.

I went to lay back on the couch and put on another Air album, and it was fantastic. I got this amazing glowing sensation travelling in waves up and down my body, and I found that moving around just made it better. I was experiencing some pretty strong euphoria, alohol close to a medium quality pill (but in a different way, much more alchol and hugging myself felt really really great. After Air finished I put on Infected Mushroom's 'Classical Mushroom' album. This album blows me away even when I'm straight, but on any sort codeije drug it is completely mind-blowing.

Although I didn't feel particularly energetic, I couldn't resist the urge to dance, which was fun but not in the way that dancing on pills is fun.While this was happening, I seemed to be sliding deeper and deeper into a drugged out state. After a while the codeine's effects became only very slightly noticable, and I was left with a very heavy stoned feeling, like when I'm really drunk and I smoke a joint of some good hydro.

all I could do was lie down and zone codeinee on the couch journeying deep into the incredible music. I must have fallen asleep at some point because suddenly infected mushroom was over and the last song of the Air cd was playing again. I struggled to my feet and dragged myself to bed, feeling very heavilly drugged out.

Laying down on the bed brought back a bit of the cozy euphoria I had codeind earlier, but I was too tired to fully enjoy it.

I looked at the clock: 2:30am (4 hours after drinking the codeine) then quickly fell asleep. Woke up at 9 this morning with a heavy 'stone-over', went back erowidd sleep, woke up again 1 abd later feeling slightly more alert.This was a great experience, although next time I probably won't be so hasty to pull out the bong. The weed alcoho, to overwhelm the more subtle effects of the codeine. The alcohol went well though, it was a good way to boost a relatively small dose up to a very nice level.

I wouldn't have more than one or two aand though, because even after one drink I got fairly dizzy and unsure on my feet. I was glad to find however that nausea was largely absent, I had only a slight bit after drinking a glass of water way too fast (my mouth was soooo dry.) I still have another 100mg sitting in the fridge, and I have a feeling it wont be long before I'm down at the chemists again.

I had a supply of codeine cough syrup (from home) but rarely if ever used it. until a couple of years after college when I went through a period of six months unemployment, at which time I rediscovered (or perhaps discovered for the first time) the joys of codeine.I developed a certain discipline for maximizing the high, which entailed drinking a quart bottle of beer on a more-or-less empty stomach, and then ingesting four or five tablespoons of the syrup.

This produced a very pleasant opiate-type high, eroaid both mind and body. Fifteen to frowid minutes after ingestion, a deep feeling of relaxation and all-over warmth and peace ensues.

It is very sweet.I tend to be wrowid highly anxious and worried individual, but there are no worries on codeine; the worries are chilled right out of my bones on a wave of gentle euphoria. The high lasts about two hours overall, with a peak period of about 30 to 45 minutes. The one notable side effect is a mild itchiness that comes on with the buzz, lasts the duration of the high, and then goes away.

But when I'm high, the itch is not really a bother. It's rather pleasant, in fact, to scratch the itch, while my stoned mind is dwelling on other things.It should be noted that the stuff is both psychologically and physically addictive, in a low-grade sort of way.Psychologically, one is always craving the high, the altered state, which is more pleasant than reality.

Physically, if I take it on a regular basis, I get mild withdrawal symptoms in the nature of a vague bodily dis-ease that is relieved only when I take the drug. I found I could only get one 'good' high per day; any attempt to do more than that was a waste of the drug. Because I loved the high so much, and wanted to maximize it, I used it somewhat parsimoniously, i.e., only once a day.

Fortunately, I think, my supply ran out following that six-month period when I was using regularly. Thus, I never really had a chance to get 'hooked' in a serious way.
